Bardiya National Park

Bardiya National Park is one of Nepal’s finest wildlife destinations and the country’s largest protected area in the Terai lowlands. Established in 1988, the park spans 968 square kilometers of dense Sal forests, riverine woodlands, expansive grasslands, and the pristine Karnali and Babai River systems. Its remote location and well-preserved habitats make it one of the best places in Asia for wildlife enthusiasts, birdwatchers, and photographers.

The park is internationally recognized for its healthy population of the endangered Royal Bengal Tiger, offering one of the highest chances of tiger sightings in Nepal. Other iconic wildlife includes the Greater One-horned Rhinoceros, Asian Elephant, Leopard, Sloth Bear, Wild Boar, Sambar Deer, Spotted Deer, Blue Bull (Nilgai), Mugger Crocodile, and the endangered Gharial Crocodile. The Karnali River is also home to the rare Gangetic Dolphin, adding another unique wildlife experience to the region.

For birdwatchers, Bardia National Park is a paradise with more than 450 recorded bird species.
