 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We had a wonderful 13 day birding tour with Pratap Gurung and Nepal Birding Tours. Pratap's love and knowledge of birds is outstanding and his passion for birding is clear. We wanted to see the Spiny Babbler, an endemic species seen only in Nepal. When the bird didn't show in its original location, Pratap kept going and took us to another location where after perseverance we got a full show of the bird for 10 mins and then a second showing of 2 spiny babblers. We also saw over a 200 bird species,over a 100 of these were for the first time. As a bonus we also saw the Bengal Tiger, the rare Black Bucks, 7 one horned rhino's and several crocs.
From airport pick up to drop off, the trip was very well organised and smooth. Pratap is an excellent guide, a wonderful photographer who went out of his way to share his photography tips with us and a passionate Birder. His knowledge of Nepal and his contacts in the country are impressive and resulted in a stress free trip.

 Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We only had two days for birdwatching in Kathmandu, and I'm very glad we chose Pratap as our guide. He was highly responsive on WhatsApp, arranged everything smoothly, and took us to a great mix of birding habitats.

Pratap's ability to identify bird calls almost instantly, combined with his sharp eyesight and extensive local knowledge, helped us find and photograph many of our target species, along with several unexpected highlights. He was also proactive in helping us get better photographs by finding the best viewing angles and positions.

I really liked that his focus was on finding the birds for us rather than spending time taking his own photos of the birds. He only photographed rather uncommon species or birds that were posing nicely that were hard to resist.

With decades of experience as both a birdwatcher and trekking guide, Pratap is knowledgeable, professional, and reliable. Highly recommend him to anyone planning a birdwatching or trekking trip in Nepal!

Actually trekking and birdwatching are different, but Pratap is an excellent expert at the both. My experience was wonderful. I was guided to see over 50 new birds. Pratap could recognise most of the calls and the jizz of every bird, was gentle and patient to help me get a great view and clearly enjoyed helping a bird watcher like me get the best experience possible. The morning session was outstanding but the birds quietened as lunch approached as they do everywhere.
I am super grateful for the service of such a dedicated professional. When I come back, I will definitely go on one of his companies longer tours.

He has great hearing, often able to hear the birds before we spot them.  This helps me to get ready.  He is also a good birds and wildlife photographer thus he is able to put you in the best position to have a good angle to photograph the birds.  enjoyed his company as well.  He is easy going & we chatted on Nepal's history, geography and culture.  Beside birding, I also learn about Nepal.

On the 20th of February, 2026, I had the opportunity to visit Shivapuri National Park with Mr. Tek Gharti Magar, organised by Nepal Birding Tour. It was an excellently planned trip, and Mr. Tek was very patient throughout, knowledgeably explaining about the different bird species we saw and heard throughout the day (a total of 77 species by the end of the day!). I highly recommend organising your bird-watching tour in Nepal through Nepal Birding Tour, as you will be assured of excellent organisation of the trip itself, and fantastic memories and photos to carry back with you afterwards.

What a stroke of good luck. We are serious birders and had a list of targets we wanted to see. Pratrap worked hard and found us all we wanted with his excellent eyesight and hearing. With his knowledge he showed us several birds we had not even expected to see. Additionally he was extremely accommodating, including providing excellent lodging and meals. As a real surprise, an unplanned opportunity arose and he was able to arrange for us to take a flight to see Mt Everest at very short notice. We are very happy with Pratrap and would give him the highest testimony for anyone wanting to bird in Nepal.
